Potts Work Weekend-Nov 2, 3,4 (camp, work, play) See Below

Potts Work Weekend-- 2,3,4 November 2012

Workday: Saturday, 3 November @ 8:30 AM

Potts Preserve needs blazing and lopping really bad, so Linda asks your help. All kinds of abilities are in demand.

Saturday night we'll have a hog barbecue. Linda will furnish the hog, you folks need to bring the other stuff to share.

Primitive camping is on the river.

All the activities you enjoy are available: hiking, biking, paddling, geocaching-- even swimming, all in one place. Wow, what a deal!

Come out anytime on Friday, work on Saturday, and play on Sunday. Those who come on Friday need to E-mail Linda their arrival time. Otherwise, the Hooty Point gate will be open Saturday until 10 AM.

It's Potts and Linda, so there's always chocolate!!!

Best fun & food & trail maintance I've had for last 6 months. Linda is a FABULOUS leader. OMG-she organized everything including the most delicious Wild Hog BBQ. She even managed to have prizes, hand-wrapped for most of the participants. Can't wait to do this again with her.

Tom I work in pinellas and would be able to bring the tub for sat morning if we can coordinate a meet up. My business partner will be in south st. Pete first half of the day tomorrow. I will be meeting him later in the day up north. He is mobile if you have a address and its not to crazy far out of his way he could come and pick them up tomorrow. Let me know if that will work. Out

Hey, I just remembered last year we had a fun little contest to see which group of workers did a better job & worked harder! Yes, if I remember it was the Amanda, Kevin, tom and others crew that worked the hardest!!?? I will have to relook at those pictures again.

Lot's of room for all! If it looks to crowded for I'll find another spot.
OR we'll put you in the SWAMP!!!

    October 10, 2012

    • Lenny C.

I am happy to camp in the swamp as long as I don't miss the roast pig and the highly acclaimed Dutch oven side dishes... Since you have so many helpers Linda, I might just show up for the food.....

      October 10, 2012

Hi this will be my first meet up any advise I have camping gear

    October 3, 2012

    • Jim M.

sun screen, bug spray, long sleeves, long pants for the work detail. especially if the trail is very overgrown. could be buggy down by the river. garden gloves might help.

      October 5, 2012

  • Jody

I'm interested in this but i have no idea what lopping is or how to do it. I am a single mom and my daughter needs to be able to come to something i participate in so is there a small kid friendly way i could contribute?

    October 5, 2012

    • Jim M.

Hello, Jody. Lopping as in lopping shears to cut small branches away from the trail tread. Like you would use in a garden, but about 18" to 2" handles. Don't know what the kid rules are but picking up the cuttings and moving off of the path is useful.

      October 5, 2012

  • Margaret

Can't make the camping, but will be there Saturday ready to work!
