Had a good time, all things considered. Wrote a letter to the commander of the wesley chapel civil air patrol squadron, hopefully they are a little more respectful in the future.

My first time for the hike at Wthlacoochee River Park. Very nice hike and loved seeing so many old timers.

Great food, and the hike too. The food was very good. More than we could eat!

This was my first time spending the weekend with an FTA event. I didn't know what to expect really but had a wonderful weekend! Sue, Drylar, Justin and Kerry....thanks for a great Friday and Saturday evening around the campfire...great food and company (noise and rain included)! Arlene and Marty...was great to meet you both. Cathy...loved hiking with you yesterday afternoon! Thanks to all those who made my sister and me feel welcome. I'm looking forward to attending future events!

I choose to look at it this way...every time I go out hiking/camping, I learn something new....no more floods! :)

I could only come for the day although this was a good hike followed by a great spread of food. The Christmas decorations and table settings were really nice. There was a a raffle with a lot of gifts. We had live organ music and sang Christmas carols, it was epic. I am glad to have been part of the tradition. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this all possible.

OK but definitely not as good as last year for some reason. Not as many Friday campers.

I tried to get everything done for this weekend but I kept getting farther and farther behind. Much as I wanted to I won't be able to make it. I'll be playing catch-up all weekend. I hope everyone has a great time.

The last time I went on Sumner Lake Rd it was a bumpy dirt road, but that was about ten years ago. If it's still in that condition you might want to go a little farther up FL 35 and turn right on River Rd by the Pizza Hut.

    December 7, 2012

    • Drylar

River Road is definitely the easiest way to get out there. I took the dirt road a few weeks ago, and managed to blow a headlight due to the sudden jarring.

If anyone gets the gate code, can you message me it? Or share a number, so I can get it later? It'll be past dark before I get there, most likely.

Good morning all! My sister and I are planning to head up to the park tomorrow afternoon. I'm just wondering who else is planning to camp both nights?

Help. I have a box that needs to go up for the lunch (table covers). I can drop it off to you in st petersburg or you can pick it up from me.

Lyna, The list you have is a good one. This is a 5-6 mile trail. Not sure about the hunting. Zone B is open for hunting. Not sure if hunting is allowed on this tract at all. I am going to try to make the hike and I will be wearing orange.

I will be there for the hike Saturday, I am a newbie so, I need to wear orange, good shoes, bug spray, water, snack....what am I forgetting?

I go out to this park frequently to hike but usually park in the first lot I come to. I believe this one sits further into the park, close to a playground and restrooms if I'm thinking of the right site. Isn't it a short walk to the campsite from the lot? A lot easier than packing it all in on my back! Am I thinking of the right spot? Thanks for your help :)

I have a question, for those of us camping there friday and saturday night's, do we have to bring food to share for all the meals or is everything on our own?

    November 23, 2012

    • JUSTIN S.

Ok, I kind-of fiqured as much but just wanted to make sure.

Yes Justin, the shared meal is on Saturday with hotdogs provided.

      November 30, 2012

The only planned activities are the Saturday Morning Hike and lunch.
It's really a holiday party with the opportunity to camp at the park as a thank you for Florida Trail Association workers helping to maintain the trail.

    Lenny,
There may be an"old" member attending and leading the hike but great that you will pick it up if Cathy or Charles aren't available. Also since I have never been able to get there early enough in am I hope to hike it after lunch or sometime before the 8th.

    1 · November 18, 2012

    • Lenny C.

Ruth, will be glad for an "old" member to lead the hike... whatever the definition of "old" may be!

      November 19, 2012

  • JUSTIN S.

I'm a newbie to the group, but I plan on being there

    1 · November 19, 2012

Kevin, work hike or just a fun hike?? This is the 5.2 mile loop - correct? If you need a hike leader volunteer, I will be glad to do it unless you already got someone..

    November 17, 2012

    • kevin

actually Lenny i do need someone to lead this hike ty. my wife reminded me today that we already have family plans so i will not be there this year .

      November 17, 2012

    • Lenny C.

You mentioned that Cathy M is coming. If she is I may defer to her to lead the hike as I suspect she is much more familiar with the park than me. I haven't been up there in over two years.. Maybe Mitch is coming too for the day...

      November 18, 2012
