Questions about the title "Group Supporter"

I have had a number of questions about the title of Group Supporter under meetup member's name.

Group Support is a title given to members that are also members of the Florida Trail Assc.  When people become members of the FTA, our local chapter receives money back from the state.  These local funds are used here by our members to help maintain the equipment (chainsaws, brush cuter, tools, tractor), help buy wood for the bridges, and to hold hikes and fun weekends.  The money that is keep at the state level is used carry out the FTA's mission:

The Florida Trail Association develops, maintains, protects and promotes a network of hiking trails throughout the state, including the unique Florida National Scenic Trail. Together with our partners we provide opportunities for the public to hike, engage in outdoor recreation, participate in environmental education and contribute to meaningful volunteer work.

This year we will be offering many benefits to those meetup members that are also FTA members.  So to help us know who is able to take advantage of these benefits I have stated to add the title of Group Supporter.

membership in FTA includes, Footprint publication, chapter newsletter, hundreds of activities all over the state of Florida, state and regional conferences, opportunity to participate in F-Troop ( volunteer vacation program) for free, trail training, chain saw certification, and free CPR certification and of course a free patch and sticker.

Of course the most important benefit is knowing that you are helping to protect and maintain the trails you like to hike.

I know money is limited, but when I look at what other meetup sites are charging for participating with them I am reminded of what a great deal membership in the FTA is really worth.  We will NEVER CHARGE to participate in an event other then to cover some cost that we directly incur as a result.  All our activity leaders are screened, trained and agree to a code of conduct before they are allowed to lead an activity.

I hope to see you all at an activity soon.  E-mail me if you have any question.
