An Evening with Docker (SLUG - Pinellas)

Join us on a hands-on tutorial and live demo (failure assured)  of Docker, the high-level API around Linux Containers.

After the meeting, we usually go out to eat at a local restaurant, voted on by the interested parties.

Many people bring laptops and projects they are working on. Some people just bring themselves. Meeting room has chairs and tables (though the library is sometimes lacking in table space). We have power and usually wireless internet. We have a projector that is available for presentations. No food or drink is permitted in the library meeting rooms.

When is the meeting about making kayaks? I want to bring more people for that one.

Shoot, I wish I knew this was happening.
For those who have questions/issues, #docker on Freenode is extremely active.

This Docker thing looks interesting, somewhat of a culmination of Jails and Virtual Machines, and yet something of its own beast all together.

Unfortunately the boss called about our software glitching horribly. Guess I'll try again next time!

So sorry to miss out. Network exploded, printers crapped out, roof started leaking, and for some reason every pointing device in the place went bad simultaneously.
To wit, the creek did rise. I was REALLY looking forward to watch a live demo go kamikaze on itself.

Great talk on Docker. Got to see a brief overview of the tech. There is a place for this software in the enterprise, not just yet as it is still a rough beta. Very similar to Solaris Zones.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
