Sunday Assembly NYC - Nelson Lugo & Morgan Pielli talk about Friendship

WHERE: New York Society for Ethical Culture, Social Hall
WHEN: 2 PM, every first Sunday
WHAT: An hour that combines engaging speakers and toe tapping songs.
WHAT ELSE: Socializing, coffee and cookies after the event

We are moving to the Social Hall one time only. Follow the signs! :)

Our featured speaker at the May 4 Sunday Assembly was to have been Professor Massimo Pigliucci, but sadly he has suffered a death in his family and has returned to his native Italy.  We express our condolences, and look forward to welcoming him to our stage later in the year.

Magician Nelson Lugo, who some of you may recall from his memorable (and magical) appearance at the February 2 Assembly, has kindly stepped forward to speak in place of Professor Pigliucci.

Nelson Lugo
Magician, storyteller, and cabaret host, Nelson Lugo has worn many hats. At Sunday Assembly, he will tell you about wearing the hat of love....and loss....and friendship.

Morgan Pielli
Morgan Pielli, storytelling host and comic writer of Indestructible Universe.  will tell us a tale of 2nd grade friendships, childhood battles, Secret Santas and a toy called Mad Balls.

Justina Walford
Host Justina Walford will dissect the friendship of all friendships: Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. In her exploration of this charming bit of British awesome, she will discuss the language of friendship and what we see of ourselves in this viral bromance.

Music: Raymond Arnold, Jeff Crews and Jack Lucentini

As a magician and sideshow artist, NELSON LUGO has been entertaining audiences all across the country for the past fifteen years. His storytelling credits include being a guest singer for the BTK Band, headlined at Adam Wade’s Whatever Happened to the Nerds, was featured on the Story Collider podcast, as well as featured on the Standard Issues video podcast. He is currently developing a solo show called, “Gathering the Magic” that combines slice-of-life storytelling with sophisticated stage magic. On top of everything else, he is also writing a series of Steampunk inspired children's books.

MORGAN PIELLI is the host of the quarterly reading series "Pete's Mini Zine Fest Presents: Beer and a Book" at Pete's Candy store, and he performs in the monthly show "Monday Night Fanfic" at Fontana's bar. Couldn't make it last minute. Since I won't be there in June (I have an annual banquet at my local Ethical Culture Society on the 1st), I'll try to make it in July. Enjoy it, SAers!

Plans changed and I'll be there. Can't wait for another exciting SA! LOVE the song by the way, Justina. No one can hold a candle to the Fab Four!

Have other plans this week, unfortunately. See you all next month! Sad to hear about Prof. Pigliucci, by the way.

Hey all, how's it going? Listen, I have a question. I get the feeling that books are gonna be sold at this one. Can anyone tell me if that's true and how much they'll be if so? Appreciate the help. Thanks a lot.

Hey Pito, it's unlikely that any books will be sold at this weekend's event. Though it does happen sometimes!
