Stone Mountain Group Potluck

It’s that time of year again: the spring sun, green grass and comfortable shorts weather. This is also the time for friends, family and finally being able to break out the barbecue again!

On May 10th, we’d like to come together for an informal group potluck at Stone Mountain. We’ll have some food, drinks and plenty of conversation. Sunday Assembly will be providing some basics: hotdogs, plates, napkins and plasticware. All we need from our fellow life-lovers are some additional munchies, such as chips, side dishes, salads or whatever else you’d like. We will be providing soft drinks, but if you’d like something stronger than that, it’s BYOB. Stone Mountain permits alcohol in designated areas (like where we will be meeting). Just no glass containers, please.

We will meet at 6pm at our usual venue for Sunday Assembly (3580 Pierce Drive, Suite 160, Chamblee, GA). Stone Mountain charges by the car ($10/car), so we can carpool to save some green. The $10/car we would like to split among all of us, so, if possible, please bring some spare dollars and cents so we can make sure everyone fairly participates. If you’d like to drive yourself, that is OK, too!

Our shindig will take place at the Triangle Picnic Area off of Robert E. Lee Blvd. There are plenty of tables, open spaces and a few grills for us to sizzle up some tasty treats. We’ll follow each other into the park so we stay together.

If we’re still having a good time around 9:30pm, we plan to stay for the laser show! So if you would like to lounge out on the grass and watch the entertainment, you are more than welcome to bring a blanket and some food! The show is about 45 minutes in length.

Please RSVP so we can have a good idea of who will be attending.

Please post below in the event comments what you plan to bring to the potluck. We don't want to end up with 30 bags of chips!

If you have any questions, please let us know!

We look forward to seeing you!

Best Sunday Assembly Event I've done so far. Absolutely no complaints! It was great seeing everybody again from previous SA events and new people!

The map looks good. Our picnic is on! I've got dogs and am going to cook my greens. We will meet at 6pm at our usual venue for Sunday Assembly (3580 Pierce Drive, Suite 160, Chamblee, GA) to carpool or 6:30 at the Triangle picnic area on Robert E. Lee in Stone Mtn. Park.

Hey everyone, is there anyway that we can see what everyone is bringing. That might help folks figure out what to bring. Btw, I'm bringing brownies :D

I'll meet at the park and bring fruit salad.
If anyone wants to join me I plan on hiking for an hour or so on the Cherokee trail beforehand. It goes in the woods around the mountain so is not as hot(or hard) as the walk up trail. Let me know if you want to walk off your potluck calories beforehand:)

Vicki and I will meet everyone at the park. We'll be bringing Crack Dip (cream cheese and salsa), corn chips and unsweet tea.

Hello, what time will the event actually start, for those of us wanting to meet you there? Also, FYI there are several places you can park for free outside Stone Mountain Park and walk in, which is what I will do. I've never seen the laser show! Thanks!

    May 20, 2014

    • Kristy G.

Maybe 6:45? It doesn't take too terribly long to get there, but we'll need to meet up, park, etc. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Well that's a much better date for me! And I have a Stone Mountain pass with seats for 6-7. However, I live in Tucker closer to Stone Mtn. than the Sunday Assembly location. Anyone who wants to park at my house and my neighbor's vacant property can ride with me. Message me to arrange a seat.

    Everyone,

We have a change of plans. Due to some unforeseen scheduling issues, we unfortunately have to postpone the potluck event. We have decided on the date for reschedule as May 31 at the same time of 6pm.

Another change is the meeting place. For logistical purposes, it may be easier for us all to meet at our usual Sunday Assembly location and carpool from there. As we are not as familiar with the proposed Wal-Mart's policy of leaving cars for non-customers in their parking lot, we didn't want to risk anyone getting towed or getting lost.

I hope this date is still available for many of you to come!

Please let us know if you have any questions. We apologize for any inconvenience. We would like to hear from you if you have concerns of any kind!

I cannot go. :( I didn't have it on my calendar yet, but I am going to the Shaky Knees Music Festival for three days. If anyone wants to join me Friday afternoon or Sunday (or Saturday if you're not going to this potluck) I'll be up front enjoying my favorite bands.

I have a sticker so whoever rides with me gets in free!
