Jack London Park - Nature hike with John Lynch

Nature starts to wake up as spring approaches. Park naturalist, John Lynch will open your eyes to the animals and plants as they prepare for the activity in the coming season. Bring your curiosity, wear sturdy shoes and prepare for a fascinating morning in the mixed evergreen and redwood forest. Meet in the ranch parking lot at 11:00 am for this slow moving walk. The walk is free but the parking fee applies.

I love the rain but I Was planning on bringing folks who don't want to hike in the rain. Sorry about canceling so last minute.

Can I buy a season's parking permit then? How slow is the walk? I like hiking in the rain but not crazy about standing in it.

I was out for 3 hours today guiding a rain walk at Bouverie and know what you mean about a lot of standing around. The goal of this hike is to as fully and comfortably as possible experience the changes brought on by the rain.

Not sure I will make it - not a huge fan of being cold and wet. A mist or drizzle would be ok, but much more and I'll have to get the next one.

Please do not be put off by a damp or rainy morning. I know that hiking in the rain can be daunting for those not used to it, or inadequately prepared, but, for those willing to get a little damp, it can be quite sublime with lush vibrant greens, fresh mushrooms and the occasional newt. The rain heightens the fragrances of nature and the muted softness of sound give this park the makeover we've all been longing for.
