Needs a location
RSVP ELIGIBILITY: You must be a current, active member of the group to be eligible for attendance at this private party.
THE SETTING: It is September, 1928, in Chicago. The return of notorious gangster Harold "Hal" Coppone was expected to trigger a wave of violence. Instead, Coppone has disappeared, mystifying police and the criminal underworld. To the small group gathered in a speakeasy near Coppone's headquarters, the crimelord's whereabouts become only part of the mystery when murder is discovered. There's no shortage of suspects, motives, speakeasy glamour or gorgeous flappers in this crime tale.
LIST OF SUSPECTS:
Molly M. Awbsterr -- a New York society dame who relocated to Chicago for the action; known to her friends as "The Moll"
Ernie ("Bet a Million") G. Ambler -- a colorful millionaire gambler who'll bet on anything
"Silky" M. Adam -- a slinky, shady lady who is proprietor of The Everlay Club, Chicago's most prominent private establishment
Eddie ("Socks") R. Gyle -- an avid golfer who also runs the gaming house known as Green Tables; in some circles he's known as "Fast Deal Eddie"
Malissa F. Orrthot ("Scoop") -- a young reporter for The Chicago Trumpet who has made a name for herself on the crime beat; close friends with editor Augustus Kohn (known as "Citizen Kohn"); her crusade is to expose every crook in Chicago
S. Treighton Harrow -- U.S. District Attorney responsible for convicting several mob hit men; he is a beacon in a world of corruption and complacency
Anna Maria Carlotta Sassine ("Torchy") -- the featured singer at Eddie's "Green Tables" has performed with many of the top jazz bands, but her rendition of blues melodies and "torch songs" earned her the nickname "Torchy"
Billy ("The Kid") Thrower -- this star pitcher for the Chicago Stock Kings baseball team holds the league strikeout record; off the field he's a fun-loving, hard-drinking, brawling hell-raiser
Each suspect has secrets he or she is hiding which will be revealed as the game unfolds!
MENU: Italian, specifics to be determined
Along with solving the mystery, we will have a buffet Italian dinner. Each participant will provide a menu item (to be decided later). Bathtub gin and beverages will be provided by the speakeasy proprietor.
Eight participants will be cast in the suspect roles, and additional participants can dress as flappers, gamblers, or mobsters. After all RSVPs have been received, suspects will be cast. Then, you will receive your character’s profile (if any), costuming suggestions, and some background information on the murder.
A little about playing a murder mystery. The murder mystery experience is divided into four Acts. On the night of the party, you will receive a booklet which has all the information you need to work through the game. You will be given information to share with the group and conceal from the group. Each character must ad-lib questions to find out the information the other characters are hiding. At the end of the meal you will be given a chance to guess who committed the murder. This won't be quite as easy as the Titanic game was! [IF there's time, Kathryn will try to write a script to make all of this easier. But don't count on it!]
We hope you enjoy the full evening’s experience and look forward to seeing you there!
