The hobbits, orcs, thatched cottages and rolling countryside of the Cotswolds

Well if you thought the New Forest was picture postcard England, just wait until you see the Cotswolds!

This is poet (and hobbit) country: rolling hills, grass, farms and sheep; the countryside broken up only by nice villages and thatched cottages. If the place were any more lovely it would be giving you a big hug.

It will be a lovely day out!

I'm having a little trouble with the route planning software so don't know the exact route that we'll be taking but, well, that never stopped us before! It will be a moderate walk, the standard 10 - 12 miles, there are a few hills in this area!

We will be going to Kingham which is about an hour and a half from Paddington, the train leaves at 10.21 arriving 11.49. As ever, you can save yourself some money by arriving at the station early and buddying up: a groupsave four ticket is just under £15 each (a single return will be just under £30).

Please bring:

• A packed lunch: sandwich, etc.

• 1 to 2 litres of water.

• Comfortable walking clothes. Jeans are not the greatest as they rub when they're wet / are hot when it's warm.

• Good hiking boots or shoes. There is a strong possibility of mud!

• Weatherproof jacket. Weatherproof trousers are a good idea too.

• Camera!

Look forward to seeing you there! Please email me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the nice comments guys - that's really nice to hear! I'm really glad you enjoyed the day as I did, sorry it was *slightly* longer than intended! You're a lovely bunch of people and I really look forward to seeing you all again soon!

p.s. That pig was *brilliant*! I think we have to organise another walk in the area just to go and see the pig!

Stuart just forget about this kind of food and as a reward and I'll give you an apple!
It is fine, no need to thank me... ;-)

Guys! It's the weekend - yippee!!

Tomorrow's weather is looking... probably a bit cloudy in the morning and then clearing up in the afternoon. I would recommend bringing a hat as it's surprising how quickly things can heat up in England. If anyone needs any sunglasses (or socks) they can always borrow Stuart's.

Please try and be on time. You'll save some money by getting a groupsave ticket - we cannot wait for you if you miss train!

My phone number if you need it:[masked] 879.

    Cheers guys, see you tomorrow!

Maybe I should bring more than one pair?! I can see a lucrative sideline :)

Can't believe I've actually been to this spot before! Didn't know it was Hobbit country at the time of course :) Just food for thought as you plan, James - Chipping Norton is a darling town and would make a good spot to stop for lunch if you like it for a halfway point. So is Chadlington (Chippy and Chad, I'm told the locals call them :) Trust your Magellan instincts implicitly!

Will the hobbits be in the pub at the end? I was a little disappointed with the lack of ponies at the bar last Saturday :)

The hobbits will be in the same place as all the deer.

Both rather elusive creatures... Better keep my shades on just in case they're lurking "just around the corner"...

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
