Mary,
There's some place that you can buy one cheap..Check Music Go Round..they might have cheap..at least a four string. Or I know that Guitar Hospital in Los Gatos also sell. Let me know if you can get one..if not than I might bring my other one too.

Gus

I am definitely interested in coming to one of these meetups but I have a couple of questions first:

1) Where do I get a Ukulele?

2) Is this group OK for beginners? I know how to read music, I have played a little guitar, but I definitely know nothing about the Ukulele.

Thanks!

Mary

I'm for it! I have many books and some nice Hawaiian tunes I picked up on the Big Island! I have a busy schedule also, but would like to attend when it is possible.

I have a lesson plan that I picked up from my Kumu (teacher) it is a practice warm up that is wonderful and when you play it "in time" without finger search'in. You will be able to play anything. I have a nice brick patio here in San Carlos, with shade and sun. If you would like to come over and get started with the warm ups, this is fine for me.  It always takes a bit of practice to get the fingers to move smoothly, so I have a lesson plan to share with you all.  If you are interested in strumming the vamps then let me know. You will need a music stand and clothes pins to hold your paper. If you like sitting on the ground then
skip the music stand! I have a tuning pipe.

FYI:  Santa Cruz has a ukulele group that strums and howl of about 200.. we need to get busty!!!
I can commet myself for July  24th or 31st a Saturday. High noon. I can make copies for everyone in exchange for some lovely snack thing. Bring you own water bottle and lets learn the vamps.  This is my two cents on finding an instructor.
Call for details:[masked] or email!

Aloha,
Linda Rosenblatt

Hi Joe.  I was very excited when you started new meet up.  I got a new uke for christmas and have been fooling around with it, but would like to get much better.  As for meeting, why don't you just pick a time that is good for you and others will make it work if they want to.  For a start, we can just show each other what we know...simple songs and techniques that we've learned.  We can discuss later about a teacher....most would charge $50 per hour or so I'd guess.  A park with picnic tables would probably be good...but meeting at the Sand Hill fields also seemed appealing.
I would be glad to help you in any way possible to make this work.  I live in Menlo Park, so I probably don't live so very far from you.        Anyway, those are my thoughts on theUkulele strummers.  John Bowley

Hi everyone,

Founded this group to meet others who like me wish to learn to play uke (and hopefully have some fun in the process).

Anyway, am new to scheduling Meetup meetings and I accidentally set up the recurring meetings at 1000 PM which I now have canceled.

Am a busy husband and father of two so I could not even make those meetings!

So...am soliciting ideas for where, when, how to meet.  Also, where do we get an instructor to teach us. Any ideas welcome.

The New Busy think 9 to 5 is a cute idea. Combine multiple calendars with Hotmail.  Get busy.
