Getting ready and creating a community will make the difference!
We may not be able to stop job losses, bankrupt city & state budgets cutbacks in essential government services, bank failures, energy supply interruptions, increased temperatures, stronger storms, water main breaks or sewage spills. But we can have a back-up!
SUNSET Lifeboat Meet Up Group learns and shares skills for a low energy/ non-fossil fuel future.
For instance do you want to learn how to start using solar energy for cooking and heating? Do you want to learn how to start a neighborhood food garden or learn what native plants are edible? Do you want to learn food canning and drying techniques? How about converting your car to alternative fuel or how to change rain barrel water into clean potable water? We can save money by learning to use lower energy methods and we can show others how to do the same.
I am leading this group to assist others learn and share their food gardening, foraging, alternative energy know-how, inventive and sustainable emergency preparedness skills with others so that we can all have more 'lifeboats' around us during the coming transition to lower energy lifestyles.
The purpose of the SUNSET Lifeboat group is to skill up on what our great grandparents knew: how to survive on smaller incomes and be part of a neighborhood that thrives and enjoys life despite economic hard times around us. The goal is to learn/share/train/practice low energy living skills together and then to go out and share these skills with our own neighborhoods and local schools.
