Distance 16-18 miles

Elevation Gain   @ 2000 feet

Average moving speed on most of my hikes are around  3mph

Parking Fee $8- (State Park) bring exact change, usually  self pay envelope

This hike will be for advanced regular hikers,

 

I did this hike 2 years ago when part of the trail was closed, the trail is officially open again, not all pic's in the link apply to this hike, since we did a longer loop last time.

Trail Conditions and more

** slippery sections, possible,

** poison oak will be encountered trailside

---** Creek crossings with may require to take shoes off are possible***** bring a towel.

 

Geocaching, I will try to grab a couple, it usually will be fast, you may have to wait a few minutes for me at times

Route

, will take the aptos creek trail to epi center, five finger falls, and return the same way

 

Meeting point

 Georges Picnic area before the winter gate, once you went through the area where you pay the fee keep driving until you find a smaller parking area on the right, if you cross a bridge you drove just past it., if you look at the map link above you can see the steel bridge, the winter gate and georges picnic area

Just some short directions, once you get close , from Hwy 1 exit State Park Drive, turn left on state park drive, turn right onto soquel drive (shopping center on the right corner) follow soquel drive which will make a left curve soon , notice the railroad undercrossing, you will take the next left turn, railroad crossing , that is aptos creek road, just follow this small windy road to the entrance kiosk, after paying keep going until the road is closed, either the winter gate or portes picnic area.
