Meeting point for this hike

  https://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=CA-88+W%2FCarson+Pass+Hwy&hl=en&ll=38.66911,-120.121711&spn=0.006551,0.013937&sll=38.669644,-120.121711&sspn=0.001598,0.000821&geocode=FS4OTgIdiBbX-A&t=h&mra=ls&z=17

I have seen cars parked there, it is usually plowed, not a snow park , don't know if any restrictions, maybe there is a self pay parking fee.

In case there is no public parking we have to go with plan B and maybe go up to Carson Pass, we can get snow park permit at Kirkwood if needed.

Route,

follow the road along the lake for a while and then follow loosely my gps route (from the summer hike) up the mountain,

The slope was not super steep and the avalanche danger should be low, part of the uphill we probably go through a forest.

here is my gps route,

http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=1683873&code=5d881966475ff7a77bef2d85ecf7f151

just "move" the end point to the intersection of kit karson road and hwy 88 that would be our start point , than we follow the kit karson road looseley and eventually get to the gps route on the map, at a elevation of 8400 feet (see map in terrain mode) I would follow the drainage up using the best visible route , the drainage curves to the left towards the mountain, at the end of the drainage we just follow the best visible route. and see if we can make it to the true peak in the snow, we may have to stick with a false peak close to it., still will have a view.

you can switch to satellite views as well to see more details.

Snow Conditions??

I don't know, we are supposed to get some some from the storm going through Tuesday / Wednesday, I read 3-6 inches above 7000 feet.

Fresh snow means we will have to take turns breaking trail.

Cell coverage, most likely none at the parking spot, possible at the top (if we get there)

Carpool,   As usual I can take 2 from Walnut Creek, however I will drop my friend of for skiing at Kirkwood and pick her back up at the end.

It usually goes quick, and we also may stop at In and Out Burger on the way home (at Lodi)

Waiver, please review, I will bring a sign in copy to the hike

Thanks Chris for a great trip! It was great to see everyone and thank you all for tolerating my slowness on skis and following my tracks when I went off track.

Hey Chris! Is there any way to contact some other participants? I would love to go, but I need some company for such a long distance- can take in my car. I live in Mountain View. Thank you!

Yes, you can use the meetup e mails, go to indivduals profile and look for the envelope sign where it says send e mail or something like that, or you can post here about carpooling in the comments and hope for response.

I would to join too and carpool with you, if possible. I have not done this particular mountain, but have been to Mt. Shasta recently. Please keep updated :-)
