Geocaching hike 10-12 miles ? Elevation gain -2000 feet??

  • Apr 7, 2013 · 8:30 AM

Distance 10-12 miles

Elevation gain ** estimated 2000 feet** (have not hiked this trail)

Meeting Time 830 am

I am planning on doing another geocaching hike, this will be on EBMUD land, I do have a trail leader permit for this ***that means we have to stay together, no early turn around or going far ahead***

Trail conditions?? I don't know,

** be prepared for some slippery, rocky, possible steep segments,

***Lets be careful when stepping of the trail and searching, don't put your hand where you can't see, use a stick, hiking pole etc.

It is spring, we could run into a snake, lets be careful and watch out.

It looks like most caches are within a hundred feet of the trails.

Waiver, please review, I bring a copy to sign in

The meeting point will be **Rancho Laguna Park** at Moraga

if you bring up this geocache on the map  ** GCKDHV  **and then open the bigger map you can see the power trail going towards las trampas to the right

Route option 1

my plan is to go rocky ridge trail 0.4 miles on rocky ridge trail 3.4miles , turn right onto rocky ridge loop for 1.5 miles and then most likely turn around and back,  to parking the same way. that would be about 10.6 miles,   this would be about 27 caches

Route option 2

sames as above to rocky ridge loop , but then finish the loop and that would give us about 12 miles,    this would be about 37 caches

I think we make a decison when we get to the end of the 1.5 miles on rocky ridge loop the intersection with ramage peak trail,

once you open the map link it will make more sense.

***************************

Please note!!! that I do welcome a few non cachers depending on the group size, however, this is on EBMUD land, if you come along your are in for all of it, unless you have a permit for the park. We will be stopping a lot.

We have to stay close together as a group, I have a trail leader permit for the watershed land.
