**TRAIL CONDITIONS, WHAT TO EXPECT*** IMPORTANT NOTES*

THE TRAILS HAVE SOME STEEP UP AND DOWN SECTIONS***some steep sections are slippery, good footwear are a must, Hiking poles can help.

Flowers, this is one of my fav. wildflower hikes, I have done it since '07 every year, however there is no guarantee that it will be like the prev years, always depends on snow level / weather etc, when the peak bloom time is.

Pic's from prev hikes (some are earlier in the year, some later), I do expect little snow, prev. years we had more snow late into the year.

As late as it is, I also wanted to thank Chris for organizing and leading this hike and, in particular, for the wonderful walk through the "Secret (wild flower) Garden" ! (in case you have not checked it out, I think this photo, from Chris J. comes closest to capturing the sense of the place: http://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/d/7/2/a/highres_262675082.jpeg ) P.S. I uploaded the group photos to the meetup album but the full set is posted under: http://myownlittleworld.com/sassan/photography/1307-14D.Castle-peak+Basin-peak-hike.21jun13.WEB/

Fantastic hike, thanks Chris! The wildflowers were amazing. I'd only ever visited this area before when it's been covered in snow.

Two of us would be driving from San Mateo (over the Bay Bridge to 80) and can pick up possibly two more riders en route.

Sassan forgot to mention we plan to leave early Sunday AM - 3:30AM or so.

Chris: don't know about a P&R right by the bridge, but there's one farther north in Richmond just off I80 at Hilltop Dr.

Vinoth: would the P&R on 92 just west of 280 work?
