San Francisco City Hike – Multiple Hills, Great Views, Murals, Lots of Stairs

Hike Statistics (estimated): 16+ miles, around 3000 feet elevation gain, 7 to 9 hours. Moderate pace. Bring water, snacks, sunblock, hat, and windbreaker. Will stop for lunch in the Mission. If you sign up and your plans change, please change your RSVP before Saturday.

Meet at the Pool of Enchantment next to the de Young Museum, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco at 9:15 am. We start at 9:30 am. First, we’ll head to the Observation Floor of the Tower for a 360 degree view of Golden Gate Park. From here, we hike through Inner Sunset, up the Mosaic Stairs, continuing to the top of Grand View Park [820’] for a spectacular view of San Francisco. Then, it’s on to Mt. Sutro [909’], Tank Hill [650’], Twin Peaks [904’ and 910’], Glen Canyon Park, Billy Goat Hill Park, Bernal Heights Park [475'], through the Mission (murals and late lunch), Corona Heights [510’], Buena Vista Park [569’], down Haight Street and back to the start. There will be lots of stairs. This is a strenuous hike. Please plan accordingly.

Neighborhoods: Golden Gate Park, Inner Sunset, Golden Gate Heights, Forest Knolls, Clarendon Heights, Twin Peaks, Diamond Heights, Glen Park, Noe Valley, Bernal Heights, Mission District, The Castro, Eureka Valley, Corona Heights, and Haight-Ashbury.
