Surfing Florida: A Photographic History & Surf Science: Waves & Wildlife

The Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville has just recently opened an exhibition dedicated to the history and culture of surfing in Florida. One of my colleagues at the Dali tipped me off to it as they all know how much of a surf freak I am! It will be there until January, 2014.

I am putting this here just to let everyone know about it. It's a haul of a drive, but would make for a really nice day trip when surf is down and you're looking for something to do for a Sunday drive. If you do end up going, please post a comment or two about how it was!

I am going to research camping opportunities around the area as I have a popup camper and am thinking I'll take the kids up to the area for a weekend. When I have more details, I'll post comments about when I'm going, and for anyone who likes to camp, you are welcome to join us at a nearby campsite and come with us to see the exhibition and check out outdoorsy things to do around Gainesville. Fall is really nice up there.

Here is a link to the exhibition. It looks very cool and special. I certainly don't want to miss it!! http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/exhibits/limited-time-only/surfing-florida-surf-science/

Enjoy!!

Hey guys.. I went last weekend to see this. Very cool. Highly recommend it. The whole museum is awesome actually. They have a butterfly rainforest there and sell Florida native plants that attract butterflies. The vintage surf photos of all our favorite surf spots in Florida was really cool!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
