Elgin Heritage Park is on the banks of the Nicomekl River. The forested area between the 2 entrances to the park has many large trees often used by eagles and hawks to survey the surrounding area for prey. The habitat functions of the marsh significantly contribute to the ecological value of the lower Nicomekl River. The nature trail walk around Elgin Heritage Park is around 3.25 kilometres long. Allow 1 hour for this walk. Stay on trails and keep dogs on leash, because waterfowl and shorebirds are sensitive to disturbance. Strollers are ok for this walk.
MEET UP at the Stewart Farm Parking lot near the Rowing Club/Restrooms. See link for map of the park: http://www.surrey.ca/files/ElginHeritageParkNatureTrail.pdf
