Thanks for joining us, please tell me how did you hear about the group? Please note that not all our Rambler members use Meetup so there will always be more people on our walks than appear on this website
I have some friends that moved to SAWW from SURG, and then it came up on Meetup suggestions.
I'm an American who has lived in Europe for five years, and has landed in Surrey :)
Surrey and Beyond Ramblers (SABRE) is one of a new generation of Ramblers groups that is internet based and uses the flexibility it brings to the full. We are one of Ramblers fastest growing groups. We are open to all ages, though most of our members are between 40 and 60. You are welcome to come on two or three FREE introductory walks before joining as a full paid-up member of our parent organisation, Ramblers - Britain's premier walking charity.
Don't worry about coming along to a walk which not many people appear to have signed up for on Meetup. There'll be plenty of other SABRE Rambler members there too; because once you join you do not have to RSVP.
SABRE's mission is to encourage everyone to get out there and walk and hike all over Surrey and beyond at the weekend and in the week. Membership is mainly drawn from Surrey, South West London.
Ramblers membership will allow you to come on as many walks as you like with SABRE and all 500 of our other local groups across the UK. Your subscription will support the Ramblers' work encouraging people to take up walking and safeguarding the footpaths, the countryside and other places we go walking. Unlike many other Meetup groups our walk leaders won't ask you for a penny. They lead walks simply to share their love of the countryside and give something back to the group.
