Survive, Thrive, Fun and Socialising! This is a social group for people who have suffered with or have somebody close to them who have suffered with some form of cancer and who would like not to let their disease define their lives.
In the year 2000 I suffered from acute myeloid leukaemia, after a brief remission the disease came back more aggressively and I had to have further chemo and radiation therapies and eventually a bone marrow transplant. Which has left me cancer free ever since.
During my recovery I found it hard to relate to other people and definitely couldn't talk about my disease. I actually spent almost a decade avoiding the unpleasant topic and being a recluse.
That was up until 2 years ago when I caught the socialising bug. Socialising bought new friends, new experiences and more important a new perspective on life. And I wish to share it with people who have also suffered in life. That's why I created Survive, Thrive, Fun and Socialising!
In this social group I'd like to empower people to strive and grow a community. I will be hosting fun social events as well as bringing in speakers to help members with health, personal development and social problems and maybe a comedian or two.
My vision for this group is very much a place to celebrate your life, and the lives of others. So be prepared to let go and live strong. If your interested please join the group. or spread the word to someone who might be interested.
