All Ages: Bokashi Composting 101- Starter Party ( Sat, 2/1 @ 10am)

PLEASE RSVP SO WE KNOW HOW MANY OF YOU ARE COMING - THANKS !!

If you have wanted to learn about Bokashi, if you have done Bokashi and now need more starter, if you want to be involved in the JC Mom's-Sustainable JC-EPA collaboration to lower food waste, this meet-up is for you.

EPA's FOOD TOO GOOD TO WASTE program is designed to help households REDUCE their overall food waste and SJC has partnered with them to help make that happen here in Jersey City.  This pilot program is designed to measure both how much food waste we can REDUCE and then track volume of food waste we can RECYCLE, using the Bokashi approach to composting.

On Feb 1, the folks at SJC and the P.E.A.C.E. Garden will be helping us make fermentation STARTER to keep our bokashi going. Bring your kids for the fun!!  and learn how to recycle food waste at home.  Q & A as we go.

STARTER PARTY and Bokashi Training starts at 10am.

Then . . .

12noon til 1pm - Bring / Eat Your Lunch and Enjoy an Intimate Conversation With the EPA

Members of SJC and the EPA will lead a brief seminar about the pilot goals and the feedback needed to make the program a success.  And they will explain how you can participate in the bucket exchange at the P.E.A.C.E. Garden or choose to bokashi in your backyard,

We also can open the channels to figure out how to help each other with some of the logistics, for example, how to bring our buckets to the garden Uptown and get new ones back to Downtown JC (if that's part of the challenge).

There will not be a huge time commitment on our part required going forward, but SJC will explain all of that to us. The aim is to make Bokashi as easy as possible for you and your family to continue and for the success of this pilot, to lead to an expanded program here in Jersey City.
