Let the crowdsourcing begin...

Three issues on the table --

Tentative Agenda for Oct 12th

5:30 - 6:00 -- Networking
6:00 - 6:40 -- Open Discussion
Attendees of the previous session share their experience, and comment on one of three things:

  • Report on an important theme from previous session.
  • Something the previous discussion inspired in their thinking in the intervening month.
  • Something they want to get out of this meeting.

New attendees briefly introduce themselves and talk about what they want to get out of the session.
6:40 - 7:20 -- Discussion Of Key Definition[/i]
Many people have commented that we need to start this
7:20 - 7:30 -- Break, Networking
7:30 - 8:00 -- Goals, Metrics for Keeping This Discussion Productive
There has been a lot of feedback for "where do we go from here." This discussion will help the group gain a tighter focus, and create some high-level goals we can publish to our community, and begin using as the framing for future activities. My sense is that the answer is working towards a few high-level goals, which need to be generated and shared by the community, and could include:

  • Increasing the number of sustainable enterprises that get started in the Front Range
  • Increasing the number of traditional enterprises who begin adopting sustainable practices on the Front Range
  • Improving access to capital (intellectual, social, human and financial) for worthy sustainable enterprises
  • Creating new information resources for Front Range sustainable enterprises and their leaders
  • add your goals here

Please comment on these options for the first discussion on metrics and definitions:

1. what is social entrepreneurism? what are the distinctions with social enterprise, sustainable enterprise, 3BL business, earned income non-profits and other organizations descriptions?

2. what is impact investing? what are the distinctions with triple-bottom-line investing, venture philanthropy, progressive investing, slow money, conscious foundation funds and other forms of progressive capital?

3. Review standards, including:

4. Suggest your ideas / goals / needs.

SESSION 2: Reviewing a Company

Who wants to go first? The process I envision includes using the Whole Systems Risk Management survey instrument (WSRM) as a framework for discussing how an individual enterprise runs. Remember, this is a learning exercise which will benefit the individual enterprise and community at large.

A few candidates from my short list of collaborators include:

Rally Software
eConsciousMarket
Tuggl

A few candidates from my wish list include the following (who can make introductions?):

GoLite
Tendril
New Belgium
Namaste Solar
ecocycle

Please add your own wish lists...

ISSUE 3: Online Collaboration

Is this message board a good venue to you?

Would you prefer an online group on:

LinkedIn (my preference)
Google Groups
Yahoo Groups
Facebook

online collaboration - please no Linkedin or Facebook - way too clumsy for collaboration. Look at Groupsite.

I'd like to add ebags to the list.

I have a set of Sustainable Values that might be useful.
