November Monthly Meeting

Our next meeting in the new Douglasville Conference Center is Thursday, November 14th  at 7 p.m.

This meeting takes place in Room 1 of the Douglasville Conference Center, 6700 Church St, Douglasville, GA 30134.
Park in the Parking Deck which is attached to the center and come in the front entrance under the flags and clock tower. Spouses / significant others and friends, as always are welcome!

Drinks and food are not allowed to be served in the Conference Center but "incidental drinks" can be brought in by individuals. A bottle of water or the like is suggested.

Club Officer Elections for 2014
The November meeting is when we elect club officers for the 2014 year.  Current officers have agreed to serve for the 2014 but other members are welcome to throw their name in the hat and if they are really enthusiastic, their hat into the ring.  There is one office that is empty and that is the Assistant Secretary whose duties would be to assist the Secretary or cover for them if they are absent from the monthly meeting.

The positions and current officers up for election are:
President - Hoke Smith
Vice-President - Erik Peterson

Treasurer -
Kent Owings
Secretary - Lori Lorie Duke
Assistant Secretary - Open

Committee chair-people are not officers—unless they happen to be an officer as well.
They are volunteers who serve the club in a variety of ways.
Committees include the
Contest - Ralph Docimo & Retz Joseph,
Field Trip - Janet Newton
Publicity - Jo Ann Jordan
Welcoming - Diane Yancey
Programs - Hoke Smith

Other committees can be formed at any time to handle special projects.

If you have questions or would like to serve our group, please contact me at my email address listed above or at:  [masked]

COFFEE & CRITIQUE: The Coffee & Critique sessions have been cancelled for the months of November and December due to holiday activities.

SPEAKER/JUDGE: Our guest speaker for this month is CJ Andretti.

CJ AndrettiCJ will be presenting on Phone-ography so bring in your smartphone and ideas about photography using a smartphone. Smartphones are blamed for and predicted to cause the extinction of the point-and-shoot

CJ is an accomplished photographer with the DSLR and he uses those same abilities and applies them to phono-graphy but there are differences.

THIS MONTH’S CONTEST:  “Stillness - Any body at rest - not moving, showing characteristics of calmness and tranquility.
We had two field trips shoots for this month's meeting -
1) Little Five Points Parade
2) Georgia Aquarium

Note: The purpose of the Meetups is to give members the opportunity to get out and shoot and if desired, with other club members. We learn from one another by watching each other shoot.
Anyone that wants to suggest or lead a Field Trip, please contact Janet Newton.
