Drought Strategy Forum Mon, June 30, 2014, 6-8pm

You are invited to a Drought Strategy Forum Mon. June 30, 6-8pm, Louise Lowry Davis Center, 1232 De La Vina St., Santa Barbara

This event is hosted by Sweetwater Collaborative and co-sponsored by the City of Santa Barbara Water Conservation Program and Parks and Recreation Department/Neighborhood and Outreach Services, and the US Green Building Council.

Please join us for a productive evening exploring how we can together drought-proof Santa Barbara.

We are bringing together landscape and construction professionals, environmental advocates and educators, water providers, non-profit organizations, public agencies, landscape suppliers, nurseries, plumbers, gutter installers, and other interested professionals to help our community through the drought. Feel free to invite other interested colleagues.

After networking, introductions, and a few selected success stories, the heart of the meeting will be a guided collaboration exploring three interrelated questions:

• How can we best drought-proof Santa Barbara?
• How can we work together to do so? • How can we make it both economically and ecologically sustainable?

Be ready to be stimulated, challenged, and gratified by what we will learn and create together!

Free parking. Refreshments will be served.

Good objective, good approach, well prepared, great attendance. But half the meeting was spent sharing success stories. Considering the audience, this did little but cut into the time for the group work that was the heart of the event. A good start, but I wish we could have spent all the time on the group work that focused on the stated objective.

Our big faux pas was not having a timekeeper. They were supposed to be 3 minute presentations. I realized in the middle of Billy's presentation, I realized I needed to do the timekeeping. So it was not well organized and we lost time in the groups.

Agreed. 3 min each would have resulted in the right balance.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
