Open season in Grindelwald :)

It looks like the Jungfrau region has some very nice forecasts. They announced running weekends for the lifts in november o.o

http://www.jungfrau.ch/winter/tourismus/reiseinfos/betriebsinformationen/wintersportanlagen/

So I suggest the first ski/snowboard meetup of the season in Kleine Scheidegg.
Their site mentions last minute changes caused by lack of snow. Please check this meetup before leaving home. I will announce if the lifts are indeed open or not.

I will return with exact time and meeting point.

To beginners: Please note that this is not a teaching group. We can of course give pointers here and there but it would be better and safer to take a course with a trained instructor.
To all: There might be cases when people get separated from the group for different reasons (choosing other routes, group is too fast or too slow...). Please don't take it personally, enjoy the ride and we will catch up for sure at some point (at least for lunch).

It was a very fun day (especially the Strudel :P). Got to enjoy a bit of offpiste action as well. Too bad the weather was really bad. Good workout for the start of the season though.

I'm sorry, I've got to cancel. I fell down 2 nights ago and my injuries are not fully cleared up yet. Enjoy!!

Last minute info (this might change things for some people): Only the chairlifts Lauberhorn and Wixi will be open this weekend! The Arven chairlift might also be opened but it's not sure yet.

Thanks for keeping it on Saturday :) And for the snow'n'rail tip.

Fingers crossed the weather will be reasonable... Saturday is actually starting to look better than Sunday (bewolkt vs starkbewolkt), but either way there'll certainly be some fresh powder to enjoy!

Aarrgghh, you're killing me! I guess I'll just have to settle for enjoying Manhattan without snow and hope for some skiing the following week after my return.

Hey Shawn don't worry, the season has just started ;) I am snowboarding every weekend if not injured or on a low budget. There will be plenty of times to enjoy the snow :)

OK let's leave it for saturday. I might go on sunday as well if anyone is interested to join. Don't forget to get the snow'n'rail ticket from the Bahnhof ;)

Saturday is my preference. Sunday is a no go for me.
Usually I'd prefer Sunday, just not this time :)

THIS IS IT!!! :D So the ski resort is officially open this weekend. The only question is if we want to go on saturday as planned or move it to sunday when the weather is better. For me both days are fine.
Since the season hasn't started yet for SBB, there is only one train/hour to Grindelwald. For either day i suggest we meet at 7.45 at the Bahnhof Treffpunkt. We can then take the 8.04 train and arrive in Grindelwald at 9.39. As for most people this will be the first ski day of the season i think it's reasonable.
So let me know via replies which day suits you best.

I would have loved to join, but I already have party-plans with an other group of friends... Have fun though!!!

I was hoping they would open the slopes this weekend, but it looks like there is not enough snow yet :( Let's keep our fingers crossed for next weekend. They should announce by wednesday if it's ok or not. Worst case scenario we move the event by one week.

Would have loved to join for an early ski, but running a marathon in France on the 23rd. Hope to make it to the next one!

Let's hope there is snow! I'm so looking forward to skiing again. Thanks for organizing.

Sorry but I'll be in Manhattan then. Looking forward to a later trip though. I hear Saas-Fee opens in December and it's pre-season so hotels are "fairly" cheap for 1-2 nights. Something like arriving late Friday (after work), skiing Sat/Sun and back late Sunday in time for work on Monday. Anyone interested in something like that?
