Outstanding views, an old mine, and the former den of an eighteenth-century outlaw are just a few of the rewards on this intermediate hike that straddles two counties. We will also be stopping at the lake for a quick cool off dive and a lunch break.
This is a 4 hour moderate hike with some climbs on a gravel roads and rocky forest trails starting at Tuxedo Railway station.
For the car less new yorkers, we'll be taking the train at New York Penn Station NJ Transit - train leaves at 9.14 am Northeast Corridor #7829. We are meeting at 9am at the NJ Transit terminal. Return ticket is $26.
For the car less NJ folks, the train leaves from Secaucus Junction at 9.31am Port Jervis line #0071
We should get promptly at Tuxedo Station by 10.17am where we can meet the rest of the crowd who would be driving. There is plenty of parking there.
I am expecting to leave for the hike at 10.30am if all goes according to plan.
Hike time should be 3.5 to 4 hours covering a 6.8 mile loop from the station.
