SBG is dedicated to the great pastime of walking. We welcome experienced walkers looking to expand their horizons. We welcome all newcomers; for you an entirely new perspective on the world will open up! Many people join SBG to improve fitness and quickly become addicted to the spirit of the group. How better to keep that unwanted weight at bay!
Although we are 4,500 mestrong a typical SBG event is 20 people or less. The camaraderie and sense of collective achievement, engendered by our events, is just as important as racking up the kilometres and every bit as enjoyable as bearing close witness to the beauty of Sydney and its surrounds.
In a typical week, we may host 8 or more separate events including our ever popular mid-week exercise walk on Wednesday evenings. All SBG walks are carefully planned and led by our volunteer team of event organisers and hosts. Just pick the event that best suits you!
So, join us for coffee and a relaxed 7 kilometres over three hours. Or get intense and belt out 50 kilometres in just 12 hours! Explore the magnificent Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Whip through a roll-call of Sydney’s iconic beaches. Conquer the Royal National Park in a day! Take a train two hours south for the stunning Kiama hike! And watch out for our special tours to other parts of Australia, and destinations overseas!
