Hi All,

Thanks to all those who came to the meetup yesterday. It was great meeting you all. I am very excited about the prospects of what can be achieved with this group with such a great mix of people who share a passion for education and technology.

In order to have a bigger turnout for the next meetup, can I ask everyone to send me 2 weekdays that they can attend the meetup on. We will schedule the next meetup by selecting the day that works best for a majority of members. Yesterdays group suggested that Thursdays or Tuesdays might work better than Wednesdays.

As for the first event by the group, we brainstormed some great ideas about how we can promote the use of technology to make education fun. Here is a summary of what was discussed:

Since 2012 is the National Year of Reading, we could organize an online event/contest to promote reading amongst kids of various age groups. One suggestion that we all liked was to create a website that would allow kids to create a personalized animation storybook that features them as the reader. We will put out a few short stories (500 words - 1000 words) on the website. Kids (with the help of their parents) will create an audio (or video) of themselves reading the story. After they finish creating the audio/video, they will drag and drop a few images and characters to go along with the concept of the story and their own voice-over. Finally they will submit this "storybook" on the site and share it with their friends and family. This will encourage kids of all age groups to read stories and make creative storybooks that they can keep for life. Visitors will vote on storybooks and a winner will be chosen based on the number of votes.

Obviously this is a big event and we will need participation from as many group members as possible. Can we continue this brainstorming online so that if anyone has any more ideas/suggestions we can all discuss them or if the "online storybook" idea sounds good we can break it down into different activities that need to be done in order to make it a success.

Thanks for your time.

Cheers,

Atul.
