Inaugural Sydney Elasticsearch Meetup

For the inaugural Sydney meetup, we'll be hearing from Clinton Gormley (@clintongormley), Elasticsearch core developer, and Sharif Olorin, Developer at Anchor Systems.

For the last year Clint has been a full time Elasticsearch employee in charge of (amongst other things) "keep[ing] elasticsearch honest", training & evangelising Elasticsearch while developing the Elasticsearch Perl libraries.

Clint will be telling us all about the exciting new features in the upcoming version 1.0 of Elasticsearch as well as taking questions and answers.

Sharif will be covering "Beyond traffic lights: lessons in monitoring large (and small) Elasticsearch clusters for fun, profit and not getting woken up at 3am."

We'll have pizza and beer for all our attendees, so come hungry for noms and knowledge!

Many thanks to Atlassian for hosting us and for sponsoring the refreshments.

Agenda:

6:30 PM: Doors open, refreshments served

7:00 PM: Presentations and Q&A. Please be aware that due to security restrictions, the doors will close at this time and there will be no more admittance.

8:00 PM: Networking

8:30 PM: Head homewards

Entry:

Access to the Atlassian offices are via Wynyard St, just off George St. There are a set of doors leading into the ground floor in the middle of the building and someone from Atlassian will be letting people up to the meeting room.

I learned stuff so it raised the awesome level, but I wish the first part of the meetup would be more detailed (and I'm not speaking about pizza variations here hehe)

Perhaps it would better to make this meetup more general about search, similar to Melbourne Search Meetup http://www.meetup.com/melbourne-search/
with wider range of talks (not limited by elasticsearch only)

I'm sorry that I missed it, alas P1 & P2 issue mess up plans. Glad to hear it went well. Kudos!

Only a few days till we kick off the first of many Elasticsearch user groups!

Please make sure that you've checked the main meetup page as we've updated a few details including access and, most importantly, what time entry to the venue closes.

Also if you are unable to attend then please update your RSVP so someone else can take your place.

See you all on Monday night.

    Hi All,
We've added the last lot of possible spaces and once these fill then there won't be any further extensions, so get in quick if you want to come along.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hey Everyone,
Thanks for taking so much interest in this, I really wasn't expecting such a big turn out and for the RSVPs to fill so quickly! But it's great to see there's a strong Elasticsearch user base in AU.

We'll see if we can fit anymore people in at the venue and then update the page ASAP, thanks for your patience.

    Cheers,
    Mark
