Talks Description

•  What is a memory leak? And how would you fix one?

Speaker: Roman Tekhov from Atlassian JIRA team

Abstract: There is a chance that you have had to answer those questions. Even when asked by people who code in Java as their daily job. Often in conjunction with the phrase “Java is garbage collected language, it cannot possibly have leaks”. In this talk we explain what is behind by the term “memory leak” in garbage collected languages. We also demonstrate the most common types memory leaks and show some tools and techniques how to fix them.

Expected length: 30 minutes

• Gradle : the 3rd generation build tool

Speaker: Tibo Delor

Abstract: According to the Gradle website, "Gradle combines the power and flexibility of Ant with the dependency management and conventions of Maven into a more effective way to build.". What is so special with this build tool? Why some big projects like Hibernate, Spring or Android have made the switch? How can you switch from maven to gradle?

Expected length: 20 minutes
