The Aberdeen Highland Games is an annual NSW event. I've been in touch with the organisers and they have agreed to put on a special Ceilidh because there was so much demand from the Sydney Scots group*.
It's a couple of hours drive outside of Sydney so everyone will need to sort out transport. You can go for the daytime events but for the Ceilidh it's best to stay overnight or have a willing late night driver for the return trip to Sydney.
Daytime events are suitable for families and cost $20 for the ticket, pay on entry, evening Ceilidh is $65 (best to book beforehand).
We went last year and it was good fun - kilts, caber tossing, bagpipes, bonnie baby competitions - so a bit of an ersatz shortbread tin version of a Scotland that has never really existed but enjoyable nonetheless.
If you can change your RSVPs to indicate whether you can make this date that would be great. Add a comment to the thread to tell us whether you want to come along to the day or evening bit and how you are sorted for transport. I am sure we can sort out lifts if anyone needs one. Last year tickets for the day and evening events were available on the door so should be able to come along last minute if you are not sure.
*Not really. This is a lie. They have the Ceilidh every year.
