Hi Sebastian,

At the last place I worked we where with 3 developers and 2 testers. The last year we have introduced SCRUM and what we saw was an increase in focus. Before we used SCRUM methods we would first develop everything and then the test team would check if everything was ok. Because this involved a big number of items fixed, the test team needed to test the whole application. By introducing SCRUM we had short development periods of one week, followed by testing and fixing any problems in the next week. Any delay would be noticed directly and therefor we where able to anticipate major delays in releasing the new version of the web application. We added a little extra by giving the developers 'extra' tickets, which where nice to haves of things we as development just wanted to create, these we would be developing in a separate branch and if they where done we would see if we could merge them into one of the releases to the test team. This added the feeling like we also had time to create new features, which increased the spirit of both development and testers.

If you would like to talk with me just drop me a line!

Sebastiaan Hulst (or Bas for short)

Subject: [scrum-13] Getting Started

Hi guys,

I was wondering if you could help me...

I've just joined a new small team and they are not using any particular
methodology at all so far.

Straight to the point:

a) Is it possible to apply scrum in a team of 3 developers?
b) In case A is affirmative, is it worth it?
c) Could you recommend me some place in Sydney for the team to get
training or maybe some books / websites?

Thank you very much!

Sebastian
