NSW Ethics Course Trials - comment now being sought

Dear Members,

You may be aware that, earlier this year, a pilot ethics course was conducted in ten NSW primary schools, with a view to teaching ethics either as well as, or instead of, scripture (ie, religion). The ten-week course was commissioned by the St James Ethics Centre and evaluated by the NSW Department of Education and Training (DET).

The report on the trials is now available, and comment from the public is now being sought. The closing date for comment is Friday 5th November.

I'm writing to you because, as a member of Socrates Cafe, you have probably participated in a discussion quite similar in structure and objective to those conducted during the trials. So, whether or not you have children, you may have views on the value (or lack thereof) of what we do, and how valuable (or not) this experience would be for children... and you might want to tell DET what you think!

You can view the report and information about how to comment on the proposal HERE
