'A Delicate Balance" Special Screening & guest appearance by producer/director

Philip Wollen OAM said of this documentary: "This is a remarkable film and should be compulsory viewing for every human being. Solutions to global warming and the health crisis are in our reach. This is a must for anyone who cares for the survival of the planet, our fellow human beings, animals great and small, and their own health". For this special event of our 'Dinner & Doco' nights at Govindas, we are screening this incredible and inspiring film, and have a special guest appearance by the producer & Director, Aaron Scheibner!

THE DOCO:
Three years in the making, A  Delicate Balance documents the  latest discoveries of some of the  most prominent experts on  nutrition in the world. Over 50  years of research is skilfully  woven into what feels like a  detective unravelling the  mysteries behind the disease  epidemic which has struck  affluent countries with a  vengeance - disease has been  escalating over the last 50 years  resulting in 1 in 2 men and 1 in  3 women being diagnosed with  cancer.

Watching this film will help you  make informed choices about  your health and the  environment around you and how to reduce your personal impact.
A Delicate Balance debunks the myths surrounding the production and consumption of animal products and exposes the harsh realities ...
* Why are you three times more likely to die of colon cancer if you eat meat?
* How is meat production causing water shortage, starvation and poverty?
* Are you inflicting Type 1 diabetes on your children by feeding them milk?
* Why don't our medical schools teach doctors about nutrition?
* Can becoming a vegan really lead to worldwide social equity?

Featuring some of the world's leading vegan medical doctors and experts on agriculture. A Delicate Balance is a succinct production featuring candid interviews with some of the world's leading experts, mainstream researchers, doctors, nutritionists, cattle ranchers, environmentalists and politicians, from Harvard to Cornell to Tufts.

Nominated for Best Unreleased Documentary by the Australian Film Critics Association this film is a must-see for everyone concerned about their health or the environment. A Delicate Balance predominantly explores the effects of animal protein on the human body and the environment and will help you make informed choices to reduce your personal impact.

Experts interviewed in this film include: Dr. Neal Barnard, Peter Singer, Prof. Tom Lyons, Noam Mohr, John A McDougall, Dr. David Pimentel, Caldwell Esselstyn Jr, T Colin Campbell, Maneka Gandhi, Howard F. Lyman, Dr. Walter C. Willett and Dr. Michael Grege, who give amazing insights into the future of our planet, and what we need to ensure the survival of ourselves and the living beings that we share it with.

The documentaries will be shown at 7.30pm in the "Lotus Room" downstairs on a big screen.

Wow what a great night! Thanks heaps to Aaron Schiebner for coming and presenting his mindblowing documentary last night! What did everyone think of it?

Excellent film. It should be a requirement for all medical students and environmental studies students.

As usual with all this, I'm quite overwhelmed and quite depressed about the scale of the madness and the small numbers of people who can see it.

I agree it was a bit to 'digest'. It certainly questioned some common assumptions around basic food related habits. It was nice to hear those sorts of perspectives and gain some extra info to back me up on decisions or actions I take that might feel kinda right but may look a bit unusual to others. I was really impressed that Aaron funded the whole endevour himself. That's incredible committment. It wasn't the highest quality film graphics and editing I've seen, but some significant and provocative content. As for 'the scale of the madness' I sort of think, whatever, these days, we can only do what we think is right (and hope it is) and be responsible for our own actions (which can be pretty damn hard sometimes), try to connect with positive feelings like empathy, and the rest is for the universe to sort, perhaps.
