Bidjigal Reserve is a bushland Crown Reserve in The Hills Shire, NSW.

Its name commemorates the Bidjigal people (members of the Darug Nation) who lived in the area prior to European settlement.Bidjigal Reserve lies in the suburbs of Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Northmead, North Rocks, Carlingford and West Pennant Hills and forms a major part of the catchment of Darling Mills Creek.

Bidjigal Reserve contains noteworthy Aboriginal and European cultural heritage, including rock shelters with archaeological deposits. It has been said that ‘Pemulwuy’, the great aboriginal leader who unified the Darug people in their resistance against British occupation, used the area as a base.

The reserve is home to a wide range of native plant and animal species, perhaps most notably the threatened Powerful Owl, Eastern Bentwing (a microbat), Grey-headed Flying Fox and two threatened plants Hibbertia superans and Epacris purpurascens var. purpurascens. The Eastern Water Dragon, or Bidjiwong, common in the Reserve, features on the logo of the Trust.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
