Sydney MongoDB Meetup - 25 Feb, 2014

  • Assemble from 6pm
  • From 6.30pm: Yo, Keystone! Live coding demo, deployment to the cloud, and hands-on coding with KeystoneJS.

If you are interested in some hands-on experience, please bring along your laptop! You can follow the live demo, and for those who are interested we will help you get started with your very own KeystoneJS app using MongoDB. Please help us plan for you by answering a few questions about your experience and dev environment when you RSVP.

Hands-on app building and deployment with KeystoneJS

KeystoneJS is an open source content management framework built on Node.js, Express, and MongoDB. We were first introduced to KeystoneJS at our meetup in September last year. Since then the team has been extremely hard at work building new applications and features for Keystone (@JedWatson is on 160+ consecutive days of github commits, and that's just his *public* projects).

The latest freshly minted Keystone goodness is a Yeoman generator which allows you to rapidly scaffold Keystone apps. The KeystoneJS team is going to do a live demo of building and deploying apps. This will *not* be a scripted demo .. the goal is to start from a fresh VM, install Node.js, generate a Keystone app, make some tweaks, and deploy to a fully hosted environment. Audience participation is highly welcome.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
