I visited Small Plates Detroit across the street from the Blue Tusk. I think it's perfect. They have a great menu, and a full bar. I spoke to the mgr and he was very welcoming and said they would be very happy to have us. Any objections?

I say we do it. I'll post it tonight if no one has a problem.
Sounds like a good idea. I hope it works. I won't be joining you until February. I work in the city and live in Manlius so I have to go back and forth. Is anyone interested in going to early dinner in the city ptior to the February meeting? Susan Fiske
Sounds good to me. Having it right across the street from the Blue Tusk is convenient. Do they have a back room or is the noise level reasonable? How late are they open?
Sounds promising to me, so long as the noise level is under control. According to http://www.smallplate... they're open until midnight on Mondays.
It's a big place, and on Mondays there's not a lot of people there. I don't think the noise level will be a problem, but we'll know for sure after we try it.

Now if I could just find someone to read the book for me... lol

Marisa, that is one of the reasons I use audio books. I can listen while I do other things

Scott, this is by far my favorite of the 3 books I've read for this group. Plus I'm learning a whole new set of British vocabulary... :-) since I'm a visual learner, I don't really like being read to, so I'm afraid audio books wouldn't help :-(

Oh well. Now that I look at your original post it does say "for" not "to."

I posted a few questions for the discussion - please add your own, or just bring them to the meeting.

Hi everyone, I just joined so I will run out to get book and get busy! Are we to have it finished by meet?
0 · December 27, 2013
Aye, finish if you can, but feel free to come even if you don't. (Be warned that we'll probably discuss the ending of this book in particular detail...) See ya in about a week!
1 · December 28, 2013
I agree. Read as much as you can and come join us for the discussion. I've been able to participate in past discussions even though I haven't read or haven't finished the book. The more the merrier. It is a great group.
Thanks for the warm welcome David and Scott,, looking forward to it.
Hello everyone this is my first time to attend the meeting, i am so excited
Also, meetup does NOT let me delete the location of the Blue Tusk for this meeting. Please remember that this meeting won't be held there and we are still trying to find a suitable area.

I'm thinking Wegmans in DeWitt is not a bad idea. At least, we could try it for the January meeting. Is anyone completely against this? Willing to give it a try? They have a cafe/eating area. We could pull some tables together. People could grab food and drinks. I do worry at little about the noise level. Let me know your thoughts.
Wegmans in Fairmont (possibly also in DeWitt) has a dining area that might be fairly empty. I believe someone told me it was on the 2nd floor

Wegman's in DeWitt would be great!
How about checking with Fagan's since SU area may be quiet on this evening?[masked]

A doctors' group has reserved *both* back rooms at the Blue Tusk on *every* Monday for the next 6 months! We need a new location - please make suggestions!!

I'm not familiar with much in Syracuse, but it looks like many of the libraries have meeting rooms that can be reserved. Probably not conducive to eating and drinking though...
I missed the conversation and or poll where we decided on this book.
