What types of books do you like to read?

Most of my leisure reading during the past few years has been speculative fiction, to take a break from work. I also enjoy quite a bit of non-fiction (history, science, social(ist) commentary) and some fiction from other cultures (Asian, African, Ibero-American). One of the things I appreciate about book clubs is the encouragement to read things that I otherwise wouldn't have noticed or considered.

I am a postdoctoral researcher in theoretical particle physics at Syracuse University. I have been active in the Socialist Party USA and the Socialist Party Campaign Clearinghouse.
