This fall we have two popular events returning to the Tech Garden. I was hoping you could help spread the word.
This fall, the weekend of October 12th - 13th, the second semiannual Hack Upstate event will take place at Syracuse’s Technology Garden (https://www.hackerleague.org/hackathons/hack-upstate-fall-2013). Hack Upstate is an opportunity for talented developers, designers, innovators and problems solvers from across Upstate New York to come together, and rapidly collaborate on cutting-edge Web, software and hardware projects.
Hack Upstate intends to unite and facilitate collaboration among the greater Upstate New York hacker community. In doing so, we aim to contribute to the growth of Upstate New York's technology sector, and to create a robust network of technologists and regional technology companies.
Introducing The Hack Upstate Fellowship
We are super stoked to announce the Hack Upstate Fellowship program. The Hack Upstate Fellowship program seeks to pair science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students with Upstate technology companies that demonstrate strong mentorship environments.
Through the fellowship program, we hope to empower the next generation of hackers in Upstate New York’s innovation community. We seek to expose adept students to favorable employment opportunities where they’ll be positioned to solve the most challenging problems Upstate tech companies face today.
More details concerning the fellowship program will be revealed in the next few weeks. However, employers looking to get a head start can apply here (http://hack-upstate-fellowships.herokuapp.com/questions/new). Remember, this is your opportunity to collaborate with the brightest young minds in Upstate New York’s technology sector.
This fall the weekend of November 15th – 17th we are hosting Syracuse Startup Weekend 3.0.
Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical or design backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.
Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
Syracuse Sandbox DemoDay
Lastly as a reminder this Wednesday from 3-6 dont forget to sign up for Syracuse Sandbox DemoDay.
An afterparty and trade show will be at the Tech Garden.
