Re: [TCDiscGolf] Stepping down as leader

TCDG people,

As I said in my previous email the time has come for me to step aside as the leader of the group.  This is mainly because I don't feel I have the time that is necessary to keep this group functioning on the same level it has in the past, and because of that it deserves someone who has Disc Golf as a more central role in their life.  A few individuals were interested, but not totally sold on running the group as a whole so I am stepping down and leaving the position open.  I believe Meetup will keep the group alive for 30 days without a leader before removing it, and all the content, from their system.  So if you're interested all you have to do is snatch it up.  Like I said before the cost is $72 every 6 months.

The past four years have been a blast.  I know I did not get to meet as many of you as I would have liked, but I'm thankful for those that I did, and I had a lot of fun teaching techniques to all the people new to the sport.

I poked around in some pictures I had and thought I'd share these gems as a last email to everyone :)  enjoy.

See you out there.

TCDG people,

This may come as a surprise to some of you, and not to others, but I will be relinquishing the ownership of this group very soon.  To who?  I guess that waits to be seen.   I've found that I no longer can give the time I used to to this group (Remember when I would post things 4-5 times a week?), and that isn't fair to the group or to each of you.

My reasons?  Three: 1) I recently took on my second part-time volunteer position on top of my full-time job, not to mention my wife and two kids, and right now Disc Golf just hasn't been the same for me as it was a while ago,  2) The interest in the group, or at least in the way I run it, I guess, doesn't make my investment of time worth it for me on a personal level, and 3) the group deserves to have someone lead it that has Disc Golf as a more central role in their life, and thus can invest the time in the group without it being a burden on the rest of their life.  So it is for these reasons that I will open the group up to a new leader.  I would prefer that it go on as it has, as an open environment for people of all skill levels, free from cash changing hands and heavy competition, and for those that just want to have some fun while getting some light exercise, but I obviously have no voice in that once it changes hands.

If you're interested let me know by this Friday (2012.5.4) with a little blurb about why you want the role.  From those that show an interest I will choose one to head the group.  The cost is $72 every 6 months.  I will also relinquish the Twitter account and this email address with the switch.

I've had a blast running this group for the past four years; I've met some pretty great people in the process, and my stepping down in no way means you won't see me out there, it just means you won't see me out there as often.
