"MAE" DAY--80th Anniversary showings--I'M NO ANGEL and SHE DONE HIM WRONG 1933

Mae West penned the dialogue to pre-Code hit I'M NO ANGEL - arguably her best - co-starring Cary Grant as one of the men smitten with her until her past threatens their engagement. Then, West reprises her stage success as Diamond Lil in suggestive and hilarious musical comedy SHE DONE HIM WRONG, one of the last gasps of sexual freedom in movies before the Production Code set in. Both films celebrate their 80th anniversaries this year.

Tickets: General Admission $11 or Cinematheque members only $7. You can buy them at the door (this event will likely NOT sell out since it is on a weeknight) or you can buy them online at the below weblink...

Parking: Street parking meters are only good for 1 or 2 hours, so the only real option are pay lots. The cheapest for only a $5 flat fee is located one block away near the corner of Selma & Cherokee. Look for the $5 parking signs.

This is why I love pre-Code films. Fresher and funnier than alot that came later. Especially I'm No Angel. A naturally strong female lead that does the best she can with the world as she finds it.

I had a very good time...I'm officially a Mae West fan now. I apologize for not meeting everyone, but I'm a bit shy at first. Looking forward to next time! Have a great weekend everyone!

FYI--I have another group event that I am attending/organizing earlier on Thursday evening in downtown L.A. so I will ONLY be attending the second Mae West movie, but I WILL definitely be there (around 9:15pm or so).

For those longer time members who have previously attending a number of our outings, please try to be on the lookout for our new comers.

When you walk into the main auditorium from the main ground level, our group ordinarily uses the entry door on the RIGHT HAND side and sits in the elevated rear orchestra--inside center area--that is almost line of sight with the screen (NOT on the lower level where you might get a still neck by constantly looking upward toward the screen).

For this event we will NOT have reserved seating since I will not be on-hand early to mark off the seats.

But in any case, these movies are well worth seeing and I know you will enjoy the entire evening (and see me during intermission!)
