The Student Showcase is open to all active workshop participants who've completed at least six classes and would like to perform! (Exceptions can be made based on experience, just talk with me.)
I recommend jumping in and giving it a try, as you learn so much by actually performing in front of a live audience. It really helps you get the most out of the workshop. Teams are decided the night of the show, and I try to balance out a good mix of new and more experienced players. The audience is composed of invited guests of the performers and has always been warm, friendly, and responsive. It's a fun night.
We'll have two rounds of completely fabricated "competition", in a show called Maestro. In this format, created by Keith Johnstone, improvisors team up at random for each of various types of improv scenes and games. We start off with rehearsal/warm-ups from 7-8pm, then open the doors to guests at 8pm. The show starts at 8:30, and has two forty-five minute rounds separated by a 15 minute intermission, during which everyone can sign up for pizza. We'll strive to end by 10:30 and then the apres-impro pizza party begins!
Remember: Guests should come at 8pm! (They won't be let in any earlier, as we'll be warming up.)
Players pay the regular 1000 yen workshop fee, and it's 500 yen for audience members. I ask that each performer bring or at least ask one or two people to come see the show, so that we have a good audience to cheer us on!
