Topic: Increased rate of narcissists and sociopaths in society

Below you will find two links to current TED talks relating to narcissism and sociopaths Juliana also sent us a link to a youtube podcast on the same subject.

From TEDTalks:

http://www.ted.com/talks/daniel_goleman_on_compassion.html

From Juliana:

Below is a link to a podcast on YouTube where Jean Twenge (one of the key researchers on the rise of Narcissism) talks about the "epidemic" and the resulting sense of entitlement:

We will select one of the TED talks to view together at our meeting so if you are unable to preview talks prior to next Sunday, don't worry.

We will meet at Fry's Electronics this week as our normal meeting location (Raley's Event Center) is unavailable.  As you enter Fry's turn to the right and walk past the cash registers.  There is a room that is referred to by Fry's employees as the 'training room,' however I don't believe there are any signs posted with that name.  I typically arrive 15 minutes early to set up and will prop the door open.

Hope to see everyone there!

Sylvia

This is a topic of great interest to me so I was looking forward to the meeting today. Unfortunately I just returned from travel and think I caught something on the plane. I hope everyone has a good discussion and I'll see you next time.

I can't figure out how to reply to Carol's and Linda's questions. So I'll just post here.
It's actually called the "Training Room". It is near the front of the store, past the cash registers and just before the bathrooms. I'm not sure if there is a sign on the door. A smallish room with tables, but plenty big enough for our purposes.
Sylvia will send a link to the talks for us to choose from or just one for us to view on our own if we wish to do so. But we will watch it together at the beginning of the meetup. I like to watch it before hand at my leisure and then again at the meeting to refresh my memory. What is it we were talking about?

I was also in Fry's today...told there is NO meeting room...so very confused how this is going to work...viewing and discussing a Ted Topics...I drive from Auburn and told some other folks about this group but need more information. I also saw the café for the public shoppers...will they allow a group to hang out there and if so how do we view the talk being discussed?

I was in Fry's today and ask 3 salespeople where the meeting room is located and no one knew. Could you specify where in the store the meeting room is located? Each person said the only place to meet is in the café.....is that where we will be meeting?

What a great topic! I just joined the group and would love to be there but have to be out of town.

Welcome Carol. I will send a few links but we will view one Ted talk at the beginning of our meeting as well. I'm looking for a few different talks to forward to everyone. Those that preview the links will vote for recommended talk to view at the meeting. We are a very informal group. Looking forward to meeting you!

Since I just joined...need to ask how the program works...will we be watching the Ted topic and then discussing or do we need to have viewed it beforehand?
