I hope that you all are enjoying your Sunday. I know that there were at least of couple of you that ran the half or full marathon with me this morning, so congrats to you! I hope that you enjoyed running the entire race in the freezing rain like I did...
Second Sunday V came and went so quickly today. We all enjoyed listening to Johnny Carrabba talk about how he created his mass restaurant empire, and how values five principles in life (not to mention the gift certificates to Carrabbas that he gave out to the TShakes that attended - Sweet). I especially enjoyed Roland Von Kurnatowski's talk on Hackerspace, and the open source collaboration that they bring for the city of Houston. You'll be able to see the pictures on the site sometime next week. I will also announce the speakers of Second Sunday VI next week, but the event is open for you all to RSVP now.
Now on to the TED videos... I watched this TED talk given by Cameron Russell a couple of weeks ago. Cameron talks about the dangers of "body" image in young girls, and gives a candid view of what is real/not real in her line of work - she's an ex Victoria Secret's model, who happens to grace the pages of W, Elle, and Vogue currently. Oh and yea, she holds a finance and poly sci degree from Columbia too. In the spirit of brains and beauty, here's a news clip that I found to be shocking, and quite honestly, hilarious!
