HOUSTONxSHAKERS (Lover of TED Talks) Message Board › UNICEF Human Trafficking Film Screening

UNICEF Human Trafficking Film Screening

A former member
Good evening TED Shakers,

In case you haven't checked the Meetup site, I posted an event for this Thursday at 6:30pm that I would absolutely love for you all to attend! I am working with the UNICEF Club of University of Houston (Main Campus) to host a screening of Not My Life, a documentary about child trafficking. After the screening, there will be a panel of experts in the anti-human trafficking field who will share their work and engage the audience on ways to get involved in the community. The panelists include:

  • Kristin Zipple-Shedd, an attorney from Catholic Charities
  • Dr. Kerry Ward, History Professor from Rice University and Faculty Leader of the Rice Human Trafficking Seminar
  • Dr. Jennifer Musto, External Faculty Fellow from Rice University (Research includes the correlations between technology and child trafficking)
  • Marie Hernandez, President of Student Workers Against Trafficking (SWAT) from University of St. Thomas

I really hope this panel will bring technological, academic, historic, and legal perspectives to the audience on the issues of human trafficking. Please RSVP to the page and I hope to see you all Thursday evening!

Have a good night,
Judy C.

Sunitha Krishnan's TED talk on the fight against sex trafficking was one of the first TED videos that I watched. This is also one that share amongst my friends the most often.
