The Totally Unconventional Business Book Club

Our November/December meeting will feature The $100 Startup: Reinvent the Way You Make a Living, Do What You Love, and Create a New Future by Chris Guillebeau and will be presented by Desi Giraudo.

This is the book club for professionals who don’t have a heck of a lot time to read, but love to learn and get new perspectives. Here’s what makes this book club different: rather than everyone reading the same book and then getting together to discuss it, we each read different books, present a summary to the group (one book/presenter per month) then have open discussion on the topic. So there’s some reading involved, but only if you’ve read a book, found it worthy of summarizing for the group, and volunteer to do so. Our general category of book for this club is Business, but we mean that in the broadest sense of the word.

Bring your own lunch (drinks are provided by Convivium) and your computer (everyone is invited to stay and cowork after the event).

Someone reads and reviews a book that you wanted to read (but didnt yet). What's not to like?

Awesome presentation, Desi, thanks! I thought the group conversation during and after the presentation was really rich. Everyone was so willing to share their knowledge, experience, and help; thanks to all!

This is not accessible to me by bus, I don't drive; live near UNM if
anyone is going from that area!

Hi Caite! I'm sorry but I'm not aware of anyone coming from your part of town.

Since getting a traditional business startup loan from a bank is pretty much a thing of the past, I'm looking forward to getting a current take on bootstrapping.
