Meeting location: 150 Eastern Parkway Entrance to the Botanic Garden. This is next to the Brooklyn Museum and right outside the 2 and 3 trains. Google maps link: http://goo.gl/maps/WtKne
Ticket information: The festival has tickets onsale on the internet now and they claim you can enter faster with pre-purchased tickets. Although supposedly you still need to get them at the ticket window (I would print them anyway just in case). The link can be found here: http://bbg.ticketmob.com/show.cfm?id=26867&cart
Please note, this is my first time at the festival. So I will try my best to get our group photos taken as soon as possible. It will be hard to keep together as a group because the festival has so much to see and everyone will want to go to different things. And that is perfectly fine! So please bear with me when I try to get a group shot together and then everyone can go about their own goals =D
Overall, I would love to see all sorts of shenanigans our fellow wizards get up to at the festival. Remember to spread the Harry Potter love!
Hoping to foster a greater knowledge of world culture. The professors at Hogwarts have planned a long distance field trip to the Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.
Put on your school robes, professorial garb, wizarding day wear or your muggle clothing and join us for one of NYC's largest cosplay events.
The Sakura Matsuri festival is the annual Japanese Cherry Blossom festival held at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. As its a celebration of Japanese culture, over the years it has grown to be a significant cosplay event. This has been fully embraced by the Botanical Gardens and the costumers are a major draw to the event.
I have been woefully negligent over the years in not having a meetup. For several years we actually had conflicts. But I would like to correct that this year.
Please note that this is an official costumed event. But cosplay is NEVER required for our events.
Overall I think it would be pretty amazing to have photos of our group amongst the Cherry Blossom tree's and it will be a tremendous opportunity to promote our group to the cosplay community of NYC.
Additional details will be posted soon including travel directions, where to meet, etc.
