The Lightning Thief The Musical

http://youtu.be/DenX7eDSh8c

Back in April I was invited to see a dress rehearsal of this production and I was very impressed. It is a lot of fun for both adults and kids.

The show is free, but tickets need to be picked up at the box office and only a limited number are available to the general public. We also recommend bringing some cash if you want to provide a donation to the theater company.

Tickets for a particular show need to be picked up THAT DAY and the box office opens at 9:30am. Each person can request up to 4 tickets.

(yes, I have looked into group reservations, they are unfortunately not an option for us).

If you are able to pick up tickets for other people, please make arrangements in the comments below.

Synopsis from the website:

Let Theatreworks take you into a world with gods, monsters, and heroes! The Lightning Thief is a new musical adapted from the book, “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief”, by Rick Riordan. With the rights provided by Twentieth Century Fox, and through a special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Theatre, Theatreworks is excited to bring this new musical adaptation to children and families in New York, with book by Joe Tracz and music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki, choreographed by Sam Pinkleton and directed by Stephen Brackett. The Lightning Thief features Percy Jackson, the 12-year-old son of Poseidon, who gets pulled into an unfamiliar, mythological world full of treacherous encounters and challenges thrust upon him by the Greek Gods. Percy struggles with dyslexia and ADHD, coming to terms with a father he has never known, and solving the mystery of Zeus' stolen lightning bolt, alongside his two best friends Grover and Annabeth.

To all of you who missed out - SEE THIS SHOW!!! It is everything the movie wasn't, everything one could want in a Percy Jackson adaptation. I never even realized a 1-hour Percy Jackson musical could be as amazing as it was.

Also, they pulled it off with only six actors, although that's the norm for Theatreworks.

The best Theatreworks show I've seen so far. I'll have to see the books.

I will be picking up tickets, and thus far only two of them are spoken for. If anyone needs the additional tickets, let me know!

Ah, no sword for me (I think they wouldn't like that on the Metro-North) but I do have my CHB shirt on! I'll be dress as a fem!Percy.... I even have some jewelry that looks very sea-ish! (light blue and tiny pearls)

    • Anton

      I'm coming too.

I won't get off work until around 5 to pick up a ticket. I doubt they'll still be available, but I'm crossing my fingers and rubbing my lightning bolt earrings for luck!

Since I'll be coming from CT, could someone please pick up a ticket for me? I don't want to miss a chance to pick up a ticket! Also: Anyone else wanting to come in a Camp Half-Blood shirt? I got one at a con, and I have this image of a whole group of people showing up to the musical in camp shirts.

I am not sure if my Camp Half Blood shirt still fits, but will wear it if I can. Good idea!

I will be in my Camp Half-Blood shirt, dressed as Luke! And I believe there's an Annabeth coming as well.

Everyone please note that due to work issues I will not be able to attend this. Thus I am not able to pick up tickets. Please remember that everyone is on their own for obtaining tickets to this show. The ticket info is in the meetup event description.

(each person can get up to 4 tickets free at the box office, which opens 9:30am the day of the show).

Also, since there are no other organizers who can attend, we need to cancel the after-show dinner at Slaughtered Lamb pub.

I apologize again for these alterations. For those who attend the production, have a fantastic time. You will absolutely LOVE this show. It is a wonderful representation of the books.

So, how many people do we have picking up tickets? Will it be enough for the people who can't?

  • Miki

How early do we need to be there to pick up tickets 9:30 am is a bit too early -_-

    July 30

    • J.Rosenthal

It really depends on demand. The production company posted a photo the other day of a very long line. The show got excellent reviews so demand is high.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
