Annual TGTSNBN Trip to the New York Renaissance Faire!

Its our yearly trip to the New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo NY!!!
For those of you who need a way to get to the Faire, we are once again arranging a van. That will be handled by a different Meetup event. Please RSVP to BOTH if you are taking the van (which we will be charging a fee for). If you are not taking the van but still joining us, please RSVP to THIS event.
We generally split up once we enter the Faire, as everyone has different things we like to see. But we always try to gather in the middle of the day for lunch, at the end of the day during the pub sing and we DEFINITELY gather for a group photograph.
This year I want to take the group photo INSIDE the Ren Faire so we can utilize the scenery. So the photo will be taken some time during the day.
The time and location will be posted later but we will know before we leave for the event (because cell phone service stinks at the Faire).

Due to complications in the past we don't use the group rate system. Everyone needs to get their own tickets. They can be purchased at the gate.

I would say its 50/50 in regards to who wears garb and who doesn't. We have a rule in TGTSNBN, never be afraid to dress up!

Recommendations about food - can we bring our own? Will we "pool" together for lunch (like a picnic)? Food is pretty expensive there (though good), and I spent a bundle on food there just recently, but I can be flexible....

Good question, Ann. It was tough to find but the website says: 'The Faire offers a wide variety of food including vegetarian. We also have bottled spring water available at the Pubs and water fountains on the site. If you are on a very special diet, we can make exceptions to our "no outside food or beverage" policy if you are only bringing in small quantities for yourself.'

Hi! I think we spoke at cosplay day, (i was rita skeeter!) but me and three of my friends would love to come, and want to be on the waitlist for the second car (you said you needed six people, so we're four already!) should we rsvp to the van meetup post or email anyone else or what?

we have 1 free spot on the van, so the first RSVP will end up on the van slot and the rest in the Waiting list. So make a note in the RSVP comments that you want to stick together. I am still working this out and will get back to you.

Some tips for those that are new. The van that the group drives will be arriving just before or at opening of the Faire. We gather at the main gate and wait for everyone driving on their own to show up. Then we generally split up. Kelly, there will be many people more than happy to have you come along with them during the day. So no worries. As for costuming, I think our particular bunch of people are a bit more costume heavy than others. But there are still many of our members who wear normal clothing :) Also if you want to get into the fun of costuming without owning anything, the Faire has an excellent rental shop.

Danielle, its probably not a problem to post an email to our mailing list asking if anyone has an overnight crash spot. Our van however is a rental we get that morning. so yeah, sorry, we can't offer that ;)

Lorraine, you should also try to attend the free ren faire at Fort Tryon. Its one of NY's most amazing events. Its really spectacular.
