Professor McGonagall, being a fellow professor, and of Celtic background.
Started reading the books ca. 1998, have presented various papers on Harry Potter conferences such as Convention Alley (Ottawa, CAN, 2004 IIRC) and Infinitus (2010). I've presented mostly on the Irish and Welsh translations of HP, and the Celtic Connections in general. I currently run two HP reading groups on Meetup (http://www.meetup.com/gaelic-83/), one at an advanced level and one at a calmer pace for beginners. I'd love to be involved with some folks who'd like to do the same with the Latin version. My Latin is rusty, but passable.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the first volume. Hard to say why -- I guess it just reminded me of the classic British boarding school stories, but with the wizarding touch. Love all the books, really.
Really hard to say, but probably Hermione.
Róisín. I have been teaching Irish Gaelic for about 20 years, and occasional courses in Welsh and Scottish Gaelic. I've also taught courses in children's folklore and children's literature, so Harry Potter was a shoo-in. Loved Narnia, etc., also.
